Denials, bluff, and bravado. Five tiny boats from the IRGC attempted to seize the British Heritage, but a British frigate interceded. This was followed by denials, bluff, and bravado by Iran. The bravado included accusations that the UK is scared of Iran. They also accused the United States of planning the operation. The good news is that the HMS Montrose, the British frigate, showed remarkable restraint. It must have been very tempting to throw a few rounds through each of those IRGC vessels. The Iranians radioed the supertanker to stop, change course, and proceed to Iranian territorial waters. The Iranian government denied that an attempt to seize the supertanker had taken place. Iran’s leaders look like buffoons. </end editorial>
