Just when you thought you had seen and heard it all, this pops up.
- Putin’s Ex-Bodyguard Challenges Navalny to a ‘Duel’ The Moscow Times
Viktor Zolotov, Putin’s former bodyguard is now the head of Russia’s National Guard, Putin’s personal 500,000 man Praetorian Guard.
These two paragraphs from The Moscow Times says it all. With humor, I might add.
The head of Russia’s National Guard has challenged opposition leader Alexei Navalny to a duel and promised to pound him into a ‘juicy steak’ as punishment for Navalny’s series of videos exposing alleged corruption by Russia’s top government officials.
In an Aug. 23 video investigation, Navalny alleged that leadership in the Russian National Guard had diverted millions of rubles from procurement contracts earmarked for food for soldiers. Viktor Zolotov, President Vladimir Putin’s former bodyguard, heads the National Guard. Navalny, meanwhile, is serving a 30-day sentence behind bars for a protest-related infraction.
Here is Viktor Zolotov’s original video.
“I just challenge you to a duel – to the ring, tatami, anywhere, where I promise to make you a good, juicy chop,” – explained the general.
In Russia, you see, it is the manly thing to publicly announce a challenge. Especially to challenge a man who is serving in prison on fabricated charges just to make sure he doesn’t organize marches meant to protest corruption by… *gasp* Viktor Zolotov.

Zolotov also promised to trample on Navalny and use him as a door mat. “If, Mr. Navalny, you ever again speak in an insulting or slanderous tone about me or my family members, I promise you that before I step over you and use you as a door mat, I will arrange a show for the entire staff of the National Guards,” said Zolotov.
If nothing else, this is interesting. Too much testosterone.
