Event: Putin’s Propaganda—Pushing Back Against Kremlin-Run Television

Webcast available

Please join the Atlantic Council for an event entitled Putin’s Propaganda: Pushing Back Against Kremlin-Run Television, on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Atlantic Council headquarters (1030 15th Street NW, 12th Floor, West Tower Elevators, Washington, DC 20005).

Putin’s regime has been accused of using politically motivated assassinations as a tool to silence and deter future defectors and political opposition. Each assassination is accompanied by a web of false narratives, often transmitted by state-run media outlets. Marina Litvinenko and Alex Goldfarb are fighting back by suing RT and Channel 1 Russia for their role in spreading disinformation surrounding the poisoning of Alexander Litvinenko, a former officer of the Russian FSB secret service, who was killed in London in 2006.

The Atlantic Council will bring together a panel of experts for a discussion entitled Putin’s Propaganda: Pushing Back Against Kremlin-Run Television. Speakers include Dr. Alex Goldfarb, Ms. Marina Litvinenko, and Mr. Bertrand C. Sellier. The panel discussion will be moderated by Dr. Lauren Van Metre.

We hope you can join us for this timely discussion.
