Bad Iranian Propaganda Sites, iuvm.org And iuvmpress.com

This picture has been used extensively for the past two days, appearing in over 140 different articles

iuvmpress.com is an Iranian propaganda site, #TrollTracker: An Iranian Messaging Laundromat, from Digital Forensics Research Lab.

A cluster of websites known as IUVM (“International Union of Virtual Media”) appears to have been laundering Iranian state messaging by claiming it as their own and passing it on to other users, who reproduce it without showing its ultimate origin, @DFRLab can confirm.

Both their Facebook and Twitter accounts have been closed. In the words of that esteemed Southern Marine Corps scholar, Gomer Pyle, “Surprise, surprise, surprise”.

The website, however, is still operating.

Please note the blatant bad propaganda.

Poor grammar and an even worse editor:

A Syrian security source said Syrian air defenses managed to fire a number of rockets fired by Israeli planes on Tuesday at the villages of Hama and Tartous.

Failure to proofread, causing it to look like Syrian EW forced the rockets to divert onto Syrian villages, while the intent was to make it look like Israel purposefully bombed Syrian village.  By the way, rockets cannot be diverted. Missiles can be diverted.

The source said, in an interview with “Sputnik”, on Tuesday evening, “Syrian electronic war stations managed to divert a number of Israeli missiles off track and prevented them from achieving its objectives.”

The source pointed out that “Israeli missiles fell on the villages of Tartous and Hama West.”

Additionally, there is a pluralization error here, “divert a number of Israeli missiles off track and prevented them from achieving its objectives.”  Is it “a number of missiles” or “its”.

Bottom line, Iranian propaganda is poorly written and is being published by a known Iranian news aggregator, which is republishing official Iranian propaganda and claiming it as its own.

ps. Oh, Iran, your propaganda efforts always seem to fail. You’re trying too hard.

Syrian security source: Our stations for electronic warfare, Israeli missiles

5 September 2018

A Syrian security source said Syrian air defenses managed to fire a number of rockets fired by Israeli planes on Tuesday at the villages of Hama and Tartous.

The security source also stressed that the Syrian air defenses dropped all the rockets fired by Israeli aircraft during its strikes today.

Damascus announced earlier today that Syrian air defenses had intercepted several missiles fired by Israeli aircraft at military positions in Hama and Tartous.

A military source told the official SANA that “the hostile missiles were dealt with and some of them were shot down and the attacking planes were forced to flee,” while there was no comment on the incident by Israel
