Iranians In Syria Fire Rockets At Israel

30 minutes ago reports were published that Iranian IRGC Quds, forces in Syria fired rockets at Israel.

The Quds Force is a special forces unit of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards responsible for their extraterritorial operations. The Quds Force reports directly to the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei.

I immediately got out some popcorn, this is going to be interesting, from a military, diplomatic, and informational perspective.

First, Iran has been warned.  Syria has been warned.  Russia has been warned.  Everybody in the region knows Israel takes its safety seriously.

This can only be considered an offensive action, firing on the sovereign territory of Israel.  Even though Israel has been blamed that they leveled a missile storage area inside Syria. 15 Iranians were supposedly killed in the resulting blast.

For those of you not familiar with rockets vs. missiles, rockets are not guided, they are generally aimed. Their targeting is imprecise compared with missiles. The depot that was recently destroyed allegedly contained missiles.

If this attack on Israel was launched by the Quds, it had to be approved at the highest levels in Iran, by the President of Iran, Hassan Rouhani and the Supreme leader, Ali Khamenei.

This is the first time Israel directly accuses Iran of firing towards Israeli territory.

I expect a limited strike in response, then all parties will declare victory. The interesting battle will be the propaganda which will result.
