Countering Pro-Kremlin Disinformation In The CEE Countries

COUNTERING PRO-KREMLIN DISINFORMATION IN THE CEE COUNTRIES

Teaching children to distinguish fake news from the real ones as early as at primary school;  naming & shaming the authors of disinformation stories; regular meetings between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Defence with journalists so as to expose disinformation techniques used against the government offices; as well as raising public awareness about pro-Kremlin disinformation via public media – these are just a few recommendations drafted in the report “Information warfare in the Internet. Exposing and countering pro-Kremlin disinformation in the Central and Eastern European Countries” prepared by six think tanks from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Moldova, Poland, Slovakia, and Ukraine in the framework of the project co-financed  with the International Visegrad Fund and led by the Centre for International Relations.
The findings presented in the document are based on the four-months-long analysis of pro-Kremlin news in the Internet in all six partners’ countries, as well as on the conclusions of the conference held in Kyiv on 24th February 2017. Please find the results of our work here.
