Merrill’s Marauders – Congressional Gold Medal Campaign

As a former Special Forces (Green Beret) soldier, we count the Merrill’s Marauders in our lineage.  This cause has special meaning to me.  Please, if you can support this effort, I would appreciate your assistance.

Dear Marauders, Proud Descendants, and Friends,

We desperately need your help!

Merrill’s Marauders, a World War Two special unit, officially known as The 5307th Composite Unit Prov. has been hard at work in a well-deserved attempt to be awarded The Congressional Gold Medal, which is generally awarded to units and individuals for outstanding and historic accomplishments.

Congressional Member Peter King has presented Bill HR 667, attached herein, awarding Merrill’s Marauders the Congressional Gold Medal. A number of other representatives have also signed on, but it takes 2/3 of both houses to sign on for the bill to become law. This is a very difficult accomplishment that can only be achieved if a large number of Patriotic Americans request that their representatives support this effort. (Click here to read more about the CGM Process.)

I have attached a letter that you can easily use to e-mail each one of your 3 representatives (click here.) Simply replace the red text with the appropriate wording.  I have also attached a copy of Bill HR 667 for you to read, and added a link to a complete list of our representatives, from which you can get their full name and e-mail address: These documents and much more can be found on the CGM Instructions page.

For anyone who is not familiar with the accomplishments of Merrill’s Marauders, I refer you to the Fact Sheet (click here), the Merrill’s Marauders Webpage, and the Proud Descendants’ Webpage,

Please, it is extremely important and deeply appreciated that you do this as soon as possible.  It would even help a lot if you forward it to your friends asking for their help.  There are not many of us Marauders left, but those of us remaining can’t thank you enough for your help.

Warm Regards,

Robert E Passanisi, Historian
