Russian Propaganda: How Russia Took Over Crimea

I stumbled across this video this evening, and after I stopped puking and <expletive deleted>, I thought my instant weight loss program might be useful for a few of you, too.  Not that you need it, of course, but just helping out friends around the world in case you have a friend that needs to suddenly, violently, and explosively lose weight from both ends.

I changed the name of the video, of course, in the headline. I didn’t want to expose you or your friends to too much, too soon.

Without further ado, here is the carefully scrubbed, carefully worded, and carefully crafted pure propaganda video explaining how and why Russia illegally annexed Crimea.  Oops, pardon me, Putin appears to be mouthing the words, ‘granting the wishes of the people of Crimea who so desperately wanted to leave Ukraine and, instead, join Russia’.

So…  this is a Russian propaganda video, “EXCLUSIVE: The famous Russian documentary on Crimea with Putin FINALLY with SUBS“, put together by Russia TV 1 and shared by Russia Insider (a legal Russian propaganda operation inside the US). If you have followed the Russian illegal annexation of Crimea by Russia from the beginning, you may suffer heavily from cognitive dissonance.  Quite honestly, it hurt my tiny pea-brain to watch this, listen to the words and read the sub-titles.

This is, quite literally, the party line of Russia in regards to Crimea.   I previously thought, after living through the entire incident, after reading everything I could, after viewing Simon Ostrovsky’s incredible reporting, after seeing every possible news report I could, after researching it in depth, and after writing hundreds of blogs about it…  I thought I had seen it all.  I was wrong.  I read thousands of Russian and Ukrainian reports.  Thousands and thousands and thousands.  I watched Putin’s lips move. I read the words of Yanukovych, Yatsenyuk, Timoshenko, Poroshenko, Lavrov, Shoygu, every report I could read.  Put them all together and they do not paint the repugnant picture you will view in this video.

Be warned.  Be scared.  Break out your airsick bag.  I didn’t last ten minutes.  Subtitles available in English, German, French. Arabic and Chinese!

After watching this, please remind everybody you know that the United States is demanding Russia return Crimea.
