New Way To Name And Shame Terrorist Banks

Russians Mock Obama With Racist Laser Projection On Former U.S. Embassy In Moscow

An old phrase reinvented: “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but pictures stay on the internet forever.”

From the vast numbers of pictures I see advertising various products in this manner, this form of “Name and Shame” may not be new, but I haven’t seen it used much previously.  It’s ingenious.  Project a high-resolution image onto a building, take a picture, and the two are then inextricably linked – forever. Take a bunch of different images, all driving the same point home, and you have enough storyboards to tell any story or even different stories reinforcing the same point.  Better yet, make a moving image, take a video, and post it online.

This technique was used in Russia, by the Russians, onto a building across from the Embassy in 2014, so it’s been around for some time.

1Even for someone who doesn’t speak Arabic, the word Daesh is a widely known demeaning term for ISIS or ISIL.  The symbol below that, with the circle around it, is widely associated with ISIS, terrorism, and Syria.

Projecting these images onto a bank’s building, if only for a few seconds, enables one to take a picture and preserve that image forever. 2

Here, on the right, it appears to be a message showing how free speech is being suppressed, exposing an illegal action (free speech is considered a basic human right by the UN).

This appears to be a perfect use of relatively low but new technology to portray a powerful message, forever associating an object with a message of our choice.  A basic message literally projected using technology.

I’ve seen this technique used to promote causes, especially the LGBT ‘flag’ on the White House.  Extrapolating this technique has so much potential, you’re only limited by your imagination.

*psst* Hey, buddy, can I borrow a high powered laser projector?

Saudia Arabia remains one of the largest financial supporters of Al-Qaida, the Taliban, and other terror groups, according to the former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2009. 15 of the 19 attackers from September 11, 2001 were from Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, it is estimated from different government agencies that 3,000 to 4,000 young Saudis in Syria are on the path to holy war, most of whom are in the ranks of the black commandos of the Islamic State.

The United States and the European Union have known for a long time that the crowned leaders of Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia are turning a blind eye when wealthy citizens, Salifist foundations, and mosques finance Sunni holy wars, so that they can fight against Bashar al-Assad in Syria and Nuri al-Maliki in Iraq.

Both Arab regimes have long been opponents of the Sunni emirs and kings in the Gulf because they are dominated by Shiites and maintain close contact with the arch-enemy Iran.
