Russian Propaganda Expose: GlobalResearch

Global Research, an “independent research and media organization based in Montreal”, is unashamedly pro-Russian and, more than likely, a bought and paid tool of Russian propaganda.

Global Research, found at both GlobalResearch.org and GlobalResearch.ca, was established to:

The Centre for Research on Globalization (CRG) is an independent research and media organization based in Montreal.  The CRG is a registered non-profit organization in the province of Quebec, Canada.

In addition to the Global Research websites, the Centre is involved in book publishing, support to humanitarian projects as well as educational outreach activities including the organization of public conferences and lectures. The Centre also acts as a think tank on crucial  economic and geopolitical issues.

The Global Research website at www.globalresearch.ca publishes news articles, commentary, background research and analysis on a broad range of issues, focusing on social, economic, strategic and environmental issues.

Interestingly enough, this blurb on their about page is appropriate.

In an era of media disinformation, our focus has essentially been to center on the “unspoken truth”.

A less true statement cannot be written by GlobalResearch.

I have numerous Google alerts on propaganda, Russia, Ukraine, Public Diplomacy, Information Operations and Strategic Communication and articles by GlobalResearch frequently pop up. Not one article by Global Research could be considered unbiased by me. All articles have been unapologetically pro-Russian, to the point of nausea.

Today’s hit piece, published by Global Research, is on Britain’s BBC. The BBC: A Biased Propaganda Arm of Anglo-American Power, is written by Steven MacMillan. Steven MacMillan has been published by GlobalResearch 11 times, most have been anti-Western or pro-Russian. Phrases in the title include “biased propaganda arm”, “Neo-Conservative Hit List”, “Ukrainian Puppet Regime”, “Israeli Terrorist State”, “Strengthening of Russia-Iran Alliance in Response to Western Threats and Sanctions“, “US Sponsored “Color Revolution” in Russia?“, and other seemingly conspiracy theory based stories.  Clearly this author’s stories are biased.

Another story in today’s headlines is “Pardon Us For Our Country’s Existence In The Middle Of Your Military Bases – Russian Foreign Minister’s Speech at the UN“, which is most certainly anti-West and pro-Russian.

Absolutely anti-American, “US struggles to Keep Asia In Dark Age: US Funded “Newspapers” and “Activists”“.  This piece invents or, perhaps echoes, conspiracy theories of an American information efforts to suppress Southeast Asian progress, augmented by paid activists.

Bottom line at the bottom.  Russia is most likely subsidizing propaganda pieces worldwide and in the case of GlobalResearch, more than likely, funds the entire innocent sounding organization called GlobalResearch. GlobalResearch articles are almost laughable to those who are informed by a wide variety of news sources; the obvious bias of their articles is almost nauseating.

Russia has no shame in its propaganda efforts.  What was old is new again. Welcome to Soviet, er, Russian Active Measures.
